Walden Motocross Track Opens 2009 Race Season
Walden Motocross Track has been around for some 40 plus years now hosting Open Practices and Race Events for both Dirt bikes and ATV’s. No one is left out as the classes range from Pee-Wee (4-7) all the way to 50 plus and Vintage Classes. Even with other motocross tracks nearby, Walden has maintained its rider loyalty all of these years with their slogan “The track that’s giving it back to the riders!”.
This past Saturday, June 13, 2009 was no different as Walden hosted its 1st Race of the 2009 Season. They guaranteed a $2000 Expert purse in their 250cc/125cc class respectively and a $50/Moto Hole Shot. As if that wasn’t enough, Trophies were handed out to the top 8 riders in each class, regardless of the number of riders per class! With a whopping 226 riders in 39 races on Saturday, the turnout for there 1st race event of the season was a pleasure, as much as seeing the sun for the first time in a while was this rainy spring.
The track was ready to go and so were the riders who had anticipated the 1st race at Walden as the original opening date was a rained out due to heavy rains the night before. Everyone was excited; the staff was ready for that first rumble of engines on the starting gate of the 2009 season. After the mandatory riders meeting the classes were announced and riders began to get ready for their respective class to race. From there on in it was non-stop racing action and family fun for the day.
The weather held out with a brief sprinkle about 7pm, but all in all a great day was had by all. On a personal level, this was the first time my son ever raced his ATV. For a 10 yr old you can only imagine the excitement. My wife, my son and I meet some extraordinary people that day. Parents, riders and staff members alike were courteous, friendly and helpful. It was a pleasant experience for us to say the least. At the end of the day my son received trophies for each of the 2 classes he raced in. It was by far one of the happiest moments in his young life.
Walden will be hosting its next Open Practice on Saturday June, 27 2009 and their next Race Event is Saturday July 25, 2009. Tell your friends, family and fellow riders.
