Boot Boggin
On August 2008 in Northern Ontario the day was perfect for riding. The trails were clear and a sunny sky with a high of around 23 degrees Celsius. My friend was coming up for the week to go riding with me however, I could not wait for his arrival and went out on my own wearing a boot cast as I fractured the bone just before my big toe. Huge Mistake! I just got the bike that summer, a Honda CRF230F (perfect for where i ride) and have been riding only for a few months prior. As I was going along the trail I came across a muddy section and figured what the heck why not “Get Dirty”. I rode through the mud creating lots of roosts behind me Figuring that this was the only muddy spot of the trail I continued my journey (another mistake). The mud not only got muddier, it got deeper. Struggling to get through this patch wearing a boot-cast, the back tire suddenly sunk up to the exhaust pipe (no exaggeration). At this point I finally looked up and realized I was in the middle of a bog, wearing a boot cast in northern Canada so mosquitoes are horrible. I ended up getting out of this situation as I’m telling you about it now, but it was horrible. I was stuck there for 2 hours pulling, revving, and sloshing around in the thigh deep mud by my injured rookie self. Just as my luck goes when I finally emerged from the bog an ATVer came cruising along fully equipped with a winch and a passenger.
